I am Elif Muslu, the owner of Elly Ceramics, and I am a self-taught ceramicist who makes pottery in my workshop in Bodrum, on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. As a one-woman business, I do everything myself, from making kitchenware to packaging orders.

I enjoy beautifying simple everyday objects. Like a mug you look at before sipping in the middle of a stressful day...

It's like a bowl where, when you take it out of the cabinet and look at it, you'll discover a small detail you've never seen before...

My late mother gave me my brand name when I was just learning pottery making. I spent my infancy, childhood and youth in Australia, they used to call me Elly and why shouldn't I have a brand name? My mother has been my biggest supporter in this life and we put our hearts into the establishment of this brand, we believed in it very much and it has grown to this day. As a color lover, I knew nothing about glazes at the time, but I found them fascinating. There really is such a thing as a world of glazing. Every kiln opening is extreme excitement for me. It's incredible to come up with new color combinations every time. Gradations that make each mug or bowl unique. Glazes combined in a beautiful pattern can create surprises.

The bottom line is that love for ceramics, excitement, curiosity, lots of experiments, experience, experience, experience, patience and perseverance will get you somewhere. I'm not saying ambition, look, perseverance, these are very different things.

When you use my products, I want you to feel my excitement while doing it. I want it to give you as much happiness as it gave me.
